Streamlabs lags the game when open

Whenever I open SLOBS and the preview display is on, my game feels incredibly choppy despite the FPS counter saying that it’s running at 120+ FPS. This usually occurs with more intensive games such as Fortnite and Destiny. Both my CPU, RAM and GPU are not overloaded when SLOBS is open.

By turning off the preview on SLOBS (performance mode, switching to a different scene with no display capture, minimizing), the game does not lag and there is no issue. However, that kind of defeats the purpose of having a preview screen there (it’s really helpful and I always use it).

I have an i7 7700k, an AMD RX 5700XT with 16GB of RAM with a bitrate of 5000 and at 720p48fps. I also use the AMD hardware encoder.

I have a 75hz monitor (2560x1080 21:9) connected to my GPU with my secondary monitor (1920x1080 16:9 60hz) connected to the internal graphics on my motherboard. The problem is not fixed when I switch my 75hz monitor to 60hz as well.

Is there any solution to this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Zane.

Hey @sharkyzane231,

If you are already capping both your monitors to 60 Hz and one is on the mobo, try disabling game mode in your Windows settings and see if that helps. Also, make sure to right-click Streamlabs OBS and choose to run it as an administrator.

I hope that helps.

I’m having the same issue, I think it’s crazy how many threads there are with this issue. Both of my monitors are 144 hz. I have a 2080ti and an I9 processor. Has anybody found a concrete solution?
