Stream keeps lagging, even though I took settings from YT and have a good setup

Hello guys,

I started to stream PUBG now again with Streamlabs OBS, and I perfectly love the program and it's tools. The thing is, I have streamed PUBG for a while now and I play with 130 FPS, but in the stream it's quite laggy and it's not smooth at all, even though it should stream with 60 FPS by settings.

My setup:

i7-9700k
16 GB DDR4
RTX 2070
256GB SSD, 2 TB HDD

My Settings in Streamlabs:

Bitrate: 4500 (tried higher and lower, doesn't make a difference)
Encoder: Hardware (NVENC), tried X264 too, no changes at all)
Audio: 160
Encoder Preset: Max. Quality (should be no problem at all)
Video: 1920x1080 Base-Resulotion
1280x720 Output resolution (I also streamed in Full-HD, changing the output resolution didn't do anything)
Downscale-Filter: Bicubic, had it on Lanczos before, no difference...
Base FPS
60 FPS

Please let me know if anyone can help out, I'd be very thankful. Thank you in advance

hey @PownedLP here are a few things you can do to try and fix it.
Try updating your drivers for your graphics card, lower your in-game settings, locking your in-game FPS to your display's refresh rate, enable V-Sync in-game, disable Game Bar & Game Mode in Windows, in your game capture source's properties tick "limit capture framerate", try to lower your encoder presset to Quality or Performance and lastly you can try to enable Performance Mode in Streamlabs OBS. https://gyazo.com/e5ccb32544e9ddc49b26c47370597607

Thank you for your effort! Do you have any recommended settings based on my setup?

I have to mention: My main monitor has 120Hz, the second one has 60 Hz, may this be an issue?

Hey again!

To eliminate that possibility try unplugging your 60hz monitor and test the stream. See if the problem goes away.

Didn't work at all.

Do you see a red notification in StreamlabsOBS while you are streaming?

If so what does it say?

It says skipped frames. Yeah. I have 250Mb download and 25 Mb Upload, so it's definitely neither my internet nor PC..
It's really frustrating, I have a solid fanbase on Twitch and I want to deliver them nice content, but unfortunately it's very tough if even the stream is lagging... I even installed the whole system from the beginning and cleared up my hard disks, unfortunately nothing helped... Is there something like an error report which I can send you?

Hey again!

Simply because your internet reads off at 250/25, does not mean it is functioning at 100%. There are a few things we can check.

First, can you please provide screenshots of the following screens:

1) Settings --> Video
2) Setttings --> Output --> Recording
3) Your entire Streamlabs OBS view

On top of that, please download and run this test, but make sure you that you ONLY select your region, and uncheck the rest. Also make sure you are not currently uploading/downloading anything.

Once you have the results, please provide a screenshot here as well. Thanks!

Hey there @PownedLP

Could you try SIMPLE output mode and NVENC vs NVENC New and let us know if the issue persists?

You also may wish to try out 1600x900 or 1280x720p, realistically 6k bitrate isn't enough for a clean non-pixilated stream, but 6k is the maximum bitrate most streaming sites support.

I'll try it. Thank you for the response. I really feel helpless at this moment, since my hardware and internet should be more than enough, but I'll give it a try..
I found the reason, and I think it is very pathetic... I have an animated overlay and it lags when I use it.. can someone explain that?

Hey again!

Where did you get the overlay, how big is it, and what file format is it?

All of these things can be a factor.

It's webm, and it's 15 MB big. I got it from a designer

Hey again,

Would you be able to share this file with me so I can test it on my end?

You can upload it somewhere or provide me with a link, or use Discord
