Elgato Capture card doesn't show up on mac in streamlabs under video capture device

Userlevel 2

I’ve uninstalled obs link and I did not have the game capture HD app open when I was trying to create the source for the video capture device. Is elgato game capture HD60S not supported for mac yet?

Hey all,

Things to know about Streamlabs OBS for Mac:

In terms of Elgato Capture cards, which are the most common, compatibility is as follows:

HD60 - not supported in OBS at all
HD60 S - supported, requires use of OBS Link app (https://help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031363132-OBS-Link-Setup)
HD60 S+ - supported natively, no extra software required
HD60 Pro variants - supported natively

Current cards that are not supported in a Mac environment:

• HornetTek
• Hauppauge
• Avermedia
• Blackmagic

This is also a problem for me on my MacBook Pro and my Nintendo Switch. Streamlabs please fix this! I stream daily and I was really excited to switch to Streamlabs, but now I can’t.

I have this problem as well. I don’t see my Elgato HD 60 as an option anywhere within Streamlabs. I’m connecting my MacBook Pro with my Xbox One X.  I can’t figure it out, and it’s frustrating beyond belief.

ive tried unplugging and restarting multiple times and i sill can’t get my hd60s to connect…..but it connects fine in Elgatos capture software so i know my card isnt defective.

I’m on a 2018 mac desktop and have recently downloaded Streamlabs obs which is amazing! but the only thing now is i cant get Streamlabs to read my elgato capture card. All applications are closed off that would use the elgato source but Streamlabs obs. I’Ve uninstalled all the apps and reinstalled them. i can perfectly see it on the elgato app fine. so i came to the conclusion that something on your end is wrong that i cant pick up video nor audio. NEED HELP ASAP

It doesn’t work for me neither…

Same here, please help!

#streamlabsbeta for Macs , I been behind this screen for twos days straight trying to get Streamlabs obs to show my Elgato hd60s that's hooked to my xbox one under source tab in streamlabs and can't.everybody on YouTube has windows and its loading fine with no extra steps from just turning on and setting your settings in Elgato I need help please

Same problem here. I’m running it on an early 2015 MacBook Pro with Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6 and my Elgato HD60 won’t show on video capture device(s) neither there is a Game Capture option available. Would make me the happiest man if this could be sorted :pray_tone1:

Yeah, same here too!apple

Super frustrating. I have tried all of the ‘fixes’ I could find online and nothing worked.

Would absolutely love to get it all sorted out.

Listen peeps!

you have to select “NDI source” not video capture device.  Also make sure you have the Obs link installed provided by obs studio on their website.  Once NDI source is selected on streamlabs it will pick it up Automatically via obs link.  You can then configure settings in properties.

hope this makes sense.

This worked perfectly. Thank you!

unfortunately it doesn't work for me since my mac has version 10.13.6 and it only supports higher than 10.14 :(

same is happening for me and i’m about ready to quit. if anyone finds answers please let me know.

Could you send a link to this thread?

UPDATE: I found the thread on Twitter. The first chain of replies is Streamlabs discussing which Elgato cards are supported and which ones are not. Looks like the HD 60 and HD 60 S aren’t supported anymore. Sucks.

Here’s the exact tweet

Do you know what this obs link is? Or how to get it?

Is it going to be natively supported ? I got some sound going out of sync with OBS link.

There is no “NDI Source” Option for me to click on in streamlabs. And I do have abs link installed with an HD60s.

Anyone else having problems with OBS Link using a very large amount of CPU and crashing the audio from the HD60s feed. I get a stutter and then the audio cuts out completely.

Ok so boom - I got the el gato hd60s- hooked it up to my canon m50 (using this dslr to live stream on my Mac)

I go to streamlabs obs - add the ndi source and only find my MacBook obs link - I never can find my el gato to add as ndi source.
ok fine - maybe there’s some glitches in the software? I go to obs, and still nothing...

I go to el gato link and it’s there, no lag, perfect quality but I don’t stream off of el gato Hd...

none of my other programs are open when I’m switching so it’s not that either...

I been trying to fix this because I have a lag on my stream and I’m trying to fix it.
i tried everything - uninstalling, reinstalling, changing cables, ports, everything. Nothing is working. Even the el gato tech couldn’t help me!

someone out there please save me, I can’t watch another YouTube video!!

Glad I found this thread as I too am about to lose my mind. Elgato works fine in its own software, but doesn’t want to be found in OBS and Streamlabs OBS...

So I tried downloading the NDI Plug-in mentioned above (found via the Elgato website), but Mac doesn’t “trust it”...here are the exact words:

“obs-ndi-4.7.1-macOS.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.”

Anyone have any solution to this? Is this something Elgato/Streamlabs OBS is aware of?

I’m brand new to the streaming world, I have a brand new Macbook Pro 16” that I wanted to use. I had the HD60 S and I got it to work by allowing it to install in the Security and Privacy setting in System Preferences. When you open the package you should be able to see it there and “allow” it to install. I did all this today, so I totally understand your frustrations. I thought having both these new devices would work swimmingly together but when it didn’t I went a little nuts. lol

Anyway, that all seemed like way too much work downloading OBS Link and downloading the NDI plug-in, so I have returned the HD60 and am getting the S+, which is supposedly supported. I’m hoping for an easy set-up once it arrives. Hopes and Dreams.

Thanks for the response. I did manage to find away around the opening...don’t know how, but I did.

With OBS Link and NDI Plug-in installed, it now recognises it. HOWEVER, its very pixelated. Any specifics in the settings that I’m missing?!
