Dropped frames/Unstable when using multistream

For the second time in as many weeks using the built-in ‘multistream’ to also stream to Facebook results in many dropped frames/stability issues and my stream showing the “Be Right back.” message.

It stopped immediately when I ended my stream and turned off multistream last night (February 4, 2020). My connection is wired, I have a fiber line and the absolutely only thing having any internet problems was SLOBS. 3500 video bitrate and 160 audio bitrate.

Given this type of connection problem makes viewers assume I won’t be back soon, ending my stream or simply my stream won’t be of good quality I won’t be using this feature again any time soon until I am assured this will happen much less often.

Hey all,

We have been looking into the issue. I would suggest you try lowering your bitrate if you are dropping frames.

Hi Neiloch,

Sorry to hear you are having issues with the multistream feature. What resolution are you streaming at currently?

Output scaled resolution is at 1280x720

Hey there @Neiloch Can you let us know your Twitch username as well as a vod when this happened please.
I would also suggest to make sure that Streamlabs OBS is authorised in your Firewall for both Private and Public network => https://howto.streamlabs.com/streamlabs-obs-9/how-to-open-your-windows-firewall-9

Latest example

https://www.twitch.tv/videos/547010871

Earlier attempt to use it a couple weeks before that: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/538343737

The automated ‘Be Right back’ screen came up several times and it stopped immediately once I toggled off multi-streaming for the night.

I have a 1 gig down/up fiber connection and nothing else internet related was giving me problems.

I’ve never had this problem with Streamlabs or streaming in general until I turned on multistreaming and went away like flipping a switch when I turned it off.

username is twitch.tv/neiloch if you didn’t see it on the VOD’s

Have you made sure that StreamlabsOBS is authorized via your Firewall as Must stated?

I noticed you are not streaming to a Gaming Video Creator page either, you are streaming to a Video Game page.

In order for your multistream hours to be accounted for Streamlabs University, you will need to use a Gaming Video Creator page.

To create this you will need to log into Facebook on StreamlabsOBS. There you will be prompted to create this page and can go through the onboarding steps.

After you have done that, log out and log back in with Twitch and go live via multistream again and see if you have this same issue.

One of my first streams was probably on the wrong type of page but I have since fixed that. Despite this I followed the instructions and since I already went through the onboarding steps through streamlabs before none of those options were available, it just signs in like normal after I signed out.

So the “Be Right Back” screen is there to indicate that there is a connection issue from your side with our servers.

Go to settings→ stream→ to custom ingest

Then manually input your Twitch stream key and choose a different server that is close to you.

I can’t when multi-streaming, hence the problem.

Also I just had it happen again no more than 10 minutes ago. I had to stop the stream, turn off multi-streaming and the problem stopped immediately.

Hey there @Neiloch

Please try as Edd suggested, then re-enable multistreaming and try once more.

I am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!

@Elder Myllennial  Hey!

Have you tried the steps I have suggested above? If you have not, please do so.

I tried this and I got no errors buts it seems functionally identical to turning off multistreaming which does not solve my problem since it’s not multistreaming.

I’ll keep trying other servers and turning on multistreaming I guess but constantly toggling my streams on and off isn’t great for viewers. Simply leaving multistreaming off and getting zero errors is preferable right now.

I too have this issue, it would be nice if multistream just worked. Instead of having us tinker

Hi there @LivingRoomSessions!

Have you tried the following steps that Ed suggested in the earlier posts?
Also do you have Streamlabs OBS running as administrator as well by any chance?

Thanks!

I am getting the same Issue. When I try to Multi-stream. I get frame drops of 60% OR MORE (90%) however, when I swap to a singular stream (on ONLY twitch) I have ZERO issues with my quality.

Started having the same issue as well. Im getting between 11 and 60 percent frame drops while multistreaming, and the only thing viewers can see is the Be right back screeen. Hoping for a fix soon

I am having same issue.  When multistream is on I am dropping frame rates.  But then I will stop the stream and just put it back on twitch and no issues.

I too am having this issue. I can multi stream with restream.io custom ingest. but in doing that I’m unable to broadcast to my facebook page without paying large sums of money per month.  But when I attempt to use the SLOBS version of multi streams we get nothing but dropped frames. Opened the firewall, QOS on the router set up right, Have 60 mbs up and down. This is really perplexing.

I am also having this issue any suggestions on this  would be greatly appreciated

i have the same problem like him….on Multistream i got framedrops around 60%...streaming only on Twtich ...no problems...no Framedrops..nothing...So any new suggestions on this issue?

I have issues like this aswell

I am also having this exact same issue. Is streamlabs going to do anything about this? I have tried all solutions as per above regarding firewall, wired fibre connection 1gig down/up. I’m paying for a prime sub too so its not like they dont earn anything from us. FIX THE DAMN ISSUE!

This is exactly what has been going on with me for the past week. Suddenly the multistreaming becomes so unstable, jeopardizing the whole multistream (my simultanously running YouTube stream). This problem goes away when I just stream to YouTube alone, is it possible for StreamLabs side to improve the multistreaming system? This actually is a very amazing feature if it is working. Thanks a lot!

MacOS SLOBS user here.

I have the same issue. i had no problems multi streaming a month ago now all of a sudden i have near zero bitrate when multi streaming, but single stream on twitch works fine. All these suggestions pointing towards us users as if we haven’t tried their suggestions or that we are not familiar with the software. Maybe, just maybe, somewhere in the last couple updates something went awry. It’s obvious this is now a known issue, and not an isolated incident. Here’s to hoping slobs starts looking at it on their end and not suggesting the problem is on our end.
