Can't record at all

Hello, I'm not very good with obs and recording software but i never had a problem before yesterday. I had been using obs for a bit and then my task bar wouldn't open so i reset my computer and reinstalled everything. Now, when i try to record i keep getting an error message saying an unexpected error has occurred. I don't know what to do, the same thing happens in obs studio. I have all my drivers up to date, my recording and streaming output is on x264, i have read countless posts online and have done everything they have said to do yet nothing works. I'm losing my mind and this is incredibly frustrating.
I don't know what to do. I have tried reinstalling the program like 3-4 times and that hasn't worked either. Below is the error I keep getting and my recording settings. I

have installed and reinstalled both C++ and still nothing. Any help is appreciated, I feel like I'm going insane trying to figure this out.

I FIXED IT!!!!! My computer also wouldn't update so i figured that might've been the issue so i downloaded the windows 10 ISO off Microsoft's site and manually installed the latest update via the installation media and after 3ish hours when it was finally done, obs and stream labs now record AND the NVENC is an option again.

Hey there!

When exactly does this error occur? Do you start recording? Does it happen with streaming as well? Are you doing both at the same time?

Hey there @chrisbytheslice

Do you get this error when using Simple mode instead of advanced? Are you able to go live then?

Hey again!

What CPU do you have? If you change from Software x264 to something else, does it work then?

Hey again!

Are you on Windows 7 or 10?

Also, do you have up to date graphics drivers? Most of the HP Omens have built in Nvidia GPUS.

You should be seeing a choice for NVENC, or at least QSV.

I would double check your exact model, go get the graphics drivers for it, and install them. If they are already installed, you may need to completely uninstall them do a fresh install.

I understand the issue is your CPU encoder, but knowing that you can at least encode with something else will help us get to the bottom of the issue.

Hi @chrisbytheslice! Were you able to do a test recording on OBS Studios and if so, were you able to record at all or were you running into the same issues as with Streamlabs OBS.
